I have met many people who have a belief that when something is popular it has to be good. However, quite often popular opinion can obscure many things that could be better. Popular opinion is not wrong if there is at least a focus on a deeper meaning of why it is popular. Quite often when I have asked questions about certain popular things there are certain things that cannot be answered. For example, some may even be forced to like something before they have any cognitive reason of why they like it. I have been fortunate to learn wrestling with submission as well as practice Muay Thai for a long time. I always was interested in earning a black belt in something but I could never find a good school. I also believed that a lot of what I did in Submission Wrestling could transfer well into BJJ.
